Phil Aviola is a 6'2"-215 lb. catcher from Hockessin, Delaware, with very strong arms and solid musculature across his back. This kid has put some effort into his body. Behind the plate he showed pop times from 1.96-2.09 with a top velocity of 77 mph and had some quickness in his release. Phil has above average arm strength with good transfers and decent footwork. Phil is a right handed hitter with a medium base stance and a knee lift trigger. He stands upright, and shows above average bat speed and above average hand strength. His back side is a bit late getting engaged and he should develop more power with lower half correction and extension. Phil's strength and athletic skills make his bat very projectable. He is a good student as well.
