Patrick Arnold is a 2007 right hand pitcher from Huntington HS, residing in Huntington, WV. He has a strong, athletic build with sloped, broad shoulders on his 6'1" 186 lb. frame. Arnold at times can be filthy dirty on the mound, particularly when his curveball is on. He was ranked #56 among PG National Top 85 pitchers and for college coaches, he is a top end talent that is likely headed for school. Arnold pitches from an over the top slot and has a long, quick arm. He gets to deep backside extension and has what can be classified as a power arm action, though not without some effort. His fastball topped at 92 and he pitched comfortably in the 89-90 range. Arnold tilts his fastball well into the bottom of the zone and had some downward life on the heater. He competed on the inner half very well against right hand hitters. His best pitch is his 72-74 mph curveball that at times is not doubt a hammer. Arnold gets tight spin on that pitch and plus downward bite. It is 12/6ish shaped and he can pitch with the deuce, using it for outs or strikes. It is a pitch that is effective versus either right or left hand hitters. Though he is a primary pitcher, Arnold can also swing the bat and some D1 programs would wise to offer him a chance to swing the bat in addition to pitch. He is aggressive and gets the barrel to the ball pretty regularly. Arnold is a top tier D1 arm and may get some draft interest this spring, surely he will get a few looks. However, as a pretty physically mature 6'1" righty, projection is not something that is in his favor, though that does not mean he will not gain some mph in the future.
