2005 California Underclass Showcase
Justin Jacobs is a 2006 shortstop/second baseman from Pomona, California with a good body that shows strength at 6'2", 180 pounds. He hits from an upright slightly open stance and has nice weight shift into contact. He has good strength in his upper body and generates lots of bat speed. He makes solid hard contact and the ball jumps off the bat in a hurry. He has excellent bat control and showed good gap to gap power. Justin ran a 4.29 H-1st, so he runs much better than his 60 time dictates. Defensively, Jacobs has nice soft hands and a solid glove. He has quick feet, and is very agile with good body control and balance. He has advanced fielding skills and shows good fundamentals. He showed good arm strength at 80 mph across the infield with accuracy. He has very good skills with a projectable body and should be a high level prospect in 2006.
