LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2006 National Showcase
Joe Lincoln is a 2007 right hand hitting catcher from Tipton HS, residing in Clarksburg, MO. Lincoln has a big, broad upper body on a strong 6'4" 210 lb. frame that still has plenty of room to fill out. He is built like someone that has some serious power potential at the plate. Lincoln is still developing his all-around game but showed enough raw tools and projectability with the bat to be ranked #70 among PG National Top 100 position players. At the plate he took a big swing, rotating his upper half and focusing on turning on the ball. Lincoln does have some power and is clearly strong. With a more linear hand path, his line drive swing plane will result in more contact to all parts of the field. His power at this point is basically to the pull side. Lincoln basically looked only interested in hitting to that side of the field. He will hit some balls hard the other way when he is late on a pitch, as most rotational hands hitters can do, slicing the ball hard toward the right field line. As a catcher Lincoln received well, particularly the low pitch which is tough for most young catchers, and all catchers in particular. Catching the type of stuff that was at PG National and not having seen most if any of those pitchers is a tall order for the catchers and Lincoln did a nice job. His arm is accurate and he flashed near average pop times that can and will get better as he continues to develop. Lincoln ran 4.93 home/1st with a 7.60 60 yard time. At this time Lincoln looks like a college bound player. He has skill set that in time has a chance to develop into a pro type catcher with some pop in the bat.
