Jason Ogata -- Ogata is a very projectable junior infielder from Oregon who we really like. He has very smooth and athletic actions and a body that’s very projectable. From what we could tell, it appears as if Ogata has unusually large and strong wrists and hands, which is a big plus. He could end up being 6-2, 185 lbs with plus big league running speed, which opens up a wide range of defensive positions depending on how his bat develops. It looks to us as if Ogata is going to be a very good hitter. He has a narrow stance with a nice load and very good bat speed. He keeps his head down on the ball and there’s no tension in his swing whatsoever. The ball jumped during batting practice and in a couple of game at bats. This is a young prospect who could really come on and be a top player that the major colleges and pro scouts have to account for. Jason is a very good student.
