Edward Salcedo is a FA SS with a 6'3'', 190 lb. frame from La Vega, Dominican Republic. Salcedo has a strong and athletic build more normally found on a right fielder but his actions and athletic ability are definitely suited to the middle infield. He has excellent middle infield tools, including a cannon throwing arm and easy, fluid actions with plus body control and balance. It's fun to watch him play defense and easy to forget how strong and athletic he is. Offensively, Salcedo has a calm and balanced approach from a wide base and a deep load with some length to his swing. He has very good bat speed and can get the bat head to high quality stuff. He drives fastballs hard to the pull side but will have to make some adjustments to learn how to hit off speed pitches. Salcedo has all the tools to be a top level player and would be a potential first round type draft pick if he were draft eligible.
