Christopher Hawkins is a 2010 3B/OF/IF with a 6'0'', 173 lb. frame from Sugar Hill, GA who attends North Gwinnett HS. He has a solid athletic frame with good strength for his age. Hawkins is a good runner at 6.90 and should get even faster. He uses his speed well on the bases and has good instincts and aggressiveness with his speed. At the plate, Hawkins is a left handed hitter with strong hands and good bat speed. He hits from an exaggerated inside out approach with low hands to the ball. This approach doesn't fit at all with his physical tools and he needs to make some adjustments to realize his potential. He has the hand speed and hand strength to pull the ball with authority and building on that ability as he gets stronger but has very limited ability to pull the ball right now. Hawkins is listed as a primary third baseman but took defensive drills in the outfield, whiere he showed clean actions and developing arm strength. It would be nice to see him at third base as well, as he looks like he has the athletic ability to play there. Hawkins has the tools to be a very good player and should be followed closely.
