FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Playing eight games in five days could put a strain on anybody, however, X Team 2024 has put that aside so far at the BCS National Championship.

“It takes a toll for sure,” Aj Ciscar said on Saturday. “It's hot out here in Fort Myers so the energy, the heat, everything, it's draining.”

If somebody not associated with X Team witnessed their quarterfinal game, they wouldn’t believe the amount of games they’ve played, routing South Coast Blues 12-0 in four innings.

After Aaron Groeneveld and Brandon De Goti both began the first inning reaching base, all it took was a single up the middle by Tulane commit Jason Wachs to drive in Groeneveld.

Three batters later, Bruno Schafer capitalized on De Goti and Wachs advancing to third by bringing them in with a single of his own to left field.

Uncommitted 2024 graduate Quinn O’Keefe took advantage of his team's offensive dominance while on the mound, tossing a near perfect four innings. The right-hander mixed a low-80s fastball and mid-60s curveball en route to not allowing a hit over his 39 pitches.

X Team topped their three runs in the first with six more in the second inning while also batting through their lineup, and the game was officially out of reach.

Groeneveld and Ernie Echevarria both picked up RBI singles throughout the inning, while Ole Miss commit Kelven Perera Arellano also drove in a run with a sac fly later on.

Already up 9-0 in the fourth, the uncommitted Groeneveld upped his RBI total to a team-leading four on the day with a bases-clearing triple to reach their run-rule limit.

Now entering the sixth and final day, with an 8:00 am semifinal start on the horizon, the club's preparation to perform their best will stay the same.

“After our games basically our last message before we break is hydrate, get off your feet, get rest, get some air conditioning, go to bed early and be ready to strap it on again tomorrow,” X Team Head Coach Rich Bielski said postgame.
