Beast of the East Scout Notes: Day 1-2


Starting on the bump for SA Supreme National 14U in a pool play game on Saturday, Jack Stepp (2026, Greenville, S.C.) looked very sharp. Facing a very strong lineup, the southpaw tossed two no-hit innings and had all his stuff working. Stepp worked in the 78-80 range with his heater and showed good feel to locate it. His go-to secondary offering was a tight two-plane slider in the low-70s. He showed excellent feel for the pitch, getting it to both halves of the plate, in result neutralizing left-handed hitters. It tunneled, playing very well off the heater. Stepp employed a clean and low effort delivery, releasing from a low three-quarter slot that also contributed to being a tough matchup for lefties. The South Carolina native’s feel to pitch stands out.
