Michael Whooley (2023, Wyckoff, N.J.) showed well in the win today for Canes American 17u against Ground Breakers Baseball Academy.  Batting in the three-hole, he went 1-for-3 with a run scored and two huge RBI in the 5th inning when the Canes took the lead. Whooley is an uncommitted middle infielder with a strongly-built frame and athleticism that you look for in a player that is 6-foot and 190 pounds. He possesses solid footwork and range that should allow him to stay in the middle of the field long term.  He works the glove well, there is fluid actions through the ball and there is no doubt about his arm strength.  Offensively, he starts with an upright and slightly open stance, holding his hands high before allowing them to slide into the slot before moving to contact. A medium leg lift gets his lower half started and he uses his hands well to deliver the barrel aggressively to contact.
