SE Labor Day Classic Scout Notes

Calvin Koo (2023, Marietta, Ga.) is a very interesting arm who is starting to make strides on the hill. Tall, lanky frame with broad shoulders and plenty of room to fill out, making him projectable. Released from a more compact three-quarter slot as he creates some natural deception. Fastball was up to into the mid-80s as he generated good arm side run and a downhill angle. Really trusted a fading changeup in the mid-70s that he lived down in the zone with. Slowed the arm down a bit but proved to have good command of it. He also proved he could drop in a slurvy breaking ball for a strike, giving him three real pitches to work with. It’s not fully polished just yet, but he has tools to work with and has time on his side. In his outing this past weekend, he went 3 innings pitched with four strikeouts and gave up just a single hit.
