With the High School season winding down, 97 teams descended on the state of New Jersey to compete in the Super 25 Mid Atlantic Regionals. There was plenty of intense action, well-played games and talented players.

Tegan Kuhns (2024, Gettysburg, Pa.) was electric on Sunday, as he took the mound for 5 Star Northeast in their semifinal matchup with eventual tournament champion MA Show 15U PA. The long, lean right-hander ran his fastball into the upper-80s in the early going, as he sat 87-89 for most of the first inning to set the tone for his squad. Kuhns implores a fairly simple delivery with good rhythm and tempo to his movements, while working down the slope with good lower-half engagement before unleashing his explosive arm speed. The Gettysburg native has a loose, clean arm stroke on the backside and should continue to add more velocity as he adds strength to his projectable 6-foot-2, 155-pound frame. The young 2024 grad creates tons of life through the zone, mostly due to the efficiency in which he moves and has the ability to really spin the baseball with his two-pitch mix. The slider is a true banger with tight spin and sharp horizontal tilt to it and has the makings of a true plus pitch despite still developing the command for this hellacious offering. Kuhns’ started to tire later in his outing as he let up two runs late and started to labor as he worked into the sixth inning, but overall the ease in which he is able to create this type of velocity is something that we will continue to monitor, as this scout sees another uptick in velocity coming relatively soon.
