17u Central Elite/18u WS Notes: Day 1

Jerry Miller
Hunter Pence Baseball Academy 2021 Rachal started their pool play run with an impressive 7-1 victory over the Texas Bluechips. The HP roster is loaded with top-flight players. Leading their offensive charge in their morning pool play win were three Division I commits. Shortstop, Dylan Kerbow (2021, The Woodlands, TX), is the HPBA two-hole hitter and slick fielding middle infielder. The Texas State commit is a gifted defender who possesses outstanding range and a plus arm. The 6-0, 186 pound rising senior at The Woodlands HS is also a steady line drive hitting top of the order offensive threat. Kerbow shows outstanding plate discipline and strength in his hands. His flatter bat path and consistent ability to get his barrel to and through contact with force is noticeable.

Hitting behind Kerbow in the Hunter Pence line-up is Texas A&M commit, Izaac Pacheco (2021, Friendswood, TX). The impressively built, 6-4, 220 pound left handed swinging third baseman shows the pop in his bat that draws the eyes and attention of many professional scouts. The broad shouldered rising senior at Friendswood HS shows a natural feel for getting his barrel to a solid contact point with a slugger’s lift. His timing and swing rhythm are truly outstanding. He is also a gifted defender with a plus arm that is highly accurate. Lastly, Pacheco is a fluid runner with advanced top end speed.
