NLB wins Showdown-Academies

EMERSON, Ga. – Next Level Baseball Academy defeated Georgia Premier Academy Sox in the championship of the PG High School Showdown-Academies by a score of 10-3. Each team showed all tournament long that they were forces to be reckoned with and it was evident in their championship matchup.

Next Level jumped out to an early lead and never turned back. Putting up four runs in the first inning followed by five runs in the second inning, Next Level would blow the game open very early on and never relinquish the lead. Dalton Hill led off the game with a double and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Chase Bessard. An RBI single by Coleman Fleming would lead to the second run of the inning  before the third and fourth runs would score due to an error.

Hill would lead off the second inning with a bunt single and later score on a balk. Tournament MVP Troy Bearden would drive in Bessard who earlier walked with a line drive single of his own. A bases loaded RBI walk by Fleming, a sacrifice fly by Koree Peppers and another bases loaded RBI walk by Wilkerson would pan out the scoring in the second inning as Next Level jumped out to a 9-0 lead.

Georgia Premier Academy Sox would score three runs in the third inning. NLB would muster an insurance run in the seventh inning as Cedric Clark would drive Griffin Carroll home on a sacrifice fly as Next Level Baseball Academy finished off the PG High School Showdown-Academies championship.

The MVP of the tournament was aforementioned Troy Bearden. Bearden finished the PG High School Showdown-Academies tournament 8-12 (.667) with a pair of doubles, a triple and a stolen base.

The MVPitcher of the PG High School Showdown-Academies was Daniel Espino. On the tournament Espino pitched Georgia Premier Academy into the championship with a six inning 12 strikeout performance allowing no runs and giving up just three hits.
