KC Fall Softball Scouting Combine Afternoon Session
Devashri Waikar is a 5'0, class of 2026, IF/OF from Bentonville, AR. Devashri is a young, up and coming player who has a game that is fundamentally sound and has a great chance to further develop as her career continues. She ran a 3.60 20-yard dash with a 1.18 5-yard split. Devashri has noticeable defensive ability in the OF and IF. She started in the OF and showed a firm understanding of positioning. She plays through the fielding action with controlled effort and transitions well. Her 51-mph throws show routine carry and are accurate. She also took grounders on the infield. Her actions there look like she may be better suited for second base. Her effective range in both directions is sound and her glove plays. She gets the ball on the way well and her 46-mph throws are consistently true to the target. Her max effort approach is noticed and appreciated. At the plate, Devashri is an accomplished bunter and she can handle the bat in the short game. She has a contact first mentality. She shows obvious hand-eye coordination and can strike the ball well. She will never be a power hitter because of her body type, but she will be a player who can hit solid line drives and be on base for the power hitters to bring home. Like her approach as It works for her. It is easy to see Devashri maturing into a solid defender and high average hitter. Every team needs a reliable glove and a player who can get on base with regularity. That looks to be areas that Devashri will grow in to. She looks so very determined! Love her effort and approach!
