Walker Payton is a 2020 C/OF with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Suwanee, GA who attends Scholars Guild. Athletic build with present strength. Frame projects for additional strength while maintaining athleticism. Ran a 6.81 sixty-yard dash. Primary catcher with a balanced stance while receiving the baseball. Gains ground while working out of crouch with quick footwork. Clean glove circle at exchange and released form a three-quarters slot. Throws generated accurate carry to the bag topping at 80 mph, best workout pop time of 1.97. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing soft hands and athletic footwork while moving through the baseball. Created accurate, on line carry with present arm strength topping at 87 mph. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance and reaching front side trigger. Created some linear shift into contact with lower half. Clean hand path to baseball with a repeatable line drive barrel plane. Stays balanced throughout swing while employing a mid field approach. Excellent student. Named to the 2019 National Academic Showcase, Top Prospect List.
