Jaylen Bailey is a 2019 1B/LHP, OF with a 5-11 189 lb. frame from Framingham, MA who attends Belmont Hill High School. Medium build and frame, impressive athleticism, broad shoulders, and room to continue to fill out physically and add strength. Posted a 7.24 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary first basemen, showed good footwork around the bag, athletic actions through the ball and impressive arm strength up to 86 mph. Graded out better from the outfield with impressive carry, a longer arm action, with accuracy to the bag. At the plate, started with a tall, closed stance, hand hitch, and a toe tap timing mechanism. Generated bat speed, linear swing path, and inconsistencies in weight shift. Patient approach with a good feel for the strike zone, letting the ball travel deep. Would see better results at the plate with improved timing and rhythm. Also pitched, drop and drive, deep hip turn, crossfire element, short stride, online landing, short, compact arm action, from a three quarter arm slot. Lands on a stiff front leg, fall off towards third base, with good tempo to delivery. Fastball worked 79-81 mph consistently with ability to cut to glove side and run to arm side, while being aggressive inside on hitters. 1/7 shaped curveball showed late snap and depth with a changeup showed short sink at 71 mph.
