Johnny Kuhn Jr is a 2017 RHP with a 6-5 210 lb. frame from Lakewood, CA who attends St John Bosco HS. Big and tall build, thick and strong throughout. Compact and quick arm action, 3/4's arm slot with good extension and release out front, gets over his front side well, projects well in his mechanics. Upper 80's fastball, topped out at 90 mph, gets good run and sink on his fastball and has some downward plane, showed the ability to work both sides of the plate. Sweeping slurve type breaking ball, tends to lower his release point on this pitch, has nice feel for locating and throwing for strikes. Developing change up. Works ahead and quickly and throws strikes, should keep improving with better consistency, especially on his secondary pitches. Verbal commitment to Long Beach State.
