Matthew Acosta is a 2016 LHP/OF with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from Chino Hills, CA who attends Ruben S. Ayala. Medium, highly athletic, strongly built frame. Ran a 6.95 60 yard dash. Pitches from a high three-quarter arm slot and has an up tempo delivery. Tops at 91 mph with his fastball and has big, hopping life through the zone. Pitches aggressive off his fastball and picks his spots for his slider. Shows tight rotation and late bite on the slider. Flashes a changeup with late fading action. Cuts his fastball at times. Spots three pitches. Also swung the bat, shows life off his barrel and power to his pull side. Has a quick, line drive stroke. Arm plays at the highest level from the outfield and has easy carry to the plate. Moves well and covers a lot of ground. Very good student. Named to Top Prospect list.
