LaJoie is a 6-0, 160 lb right handed pitcher from Virginia with a medium frame that has some strength. We're told that he hasn't been pitching long and that he's gained 4-6 mph during the past few months now that he's settled into his new role. LaJoie threw from a straight up delivery with a long, high arm circle in back. He has some arm looseness and arm speed that point to future velocity gains. LaJoie was 81-83 mph with his fastball and it had good life it it. His curveball had good velocity at 71-73 mph and had a sweeping break that got tighter and shorter as he threw the pitch more often. LaJoie took infield during drills and showed impressive arm strength as a position player at 86 mph, which underlines why he made the position switch. At the plate LaJoie is a switch hitter who has some bat speed from the left side of the plate with a pull type approach. LaJoie is a good student who should keep improving as a pitcher.
